Random scenario starters
Feel free to run off with any of these. I just wrote them cause I felt like it.
Do some of them make sense? Not necessarily. But they exist and can be worked on.

Jean is the Attack titan
Trost never actually happened, Jean joined the Military Police with Marco. Warriors also joined the Military Police, laying low and looking for the coordinate, while everyone else is happily in Survey Corps saving the world.
Zeke changes a village closer to Wall Sina into titans and destroys the wall shielding Ehrmich District. During the chaos and fighting, Jean accidentally discoveres he's a titan - and not just any titan, but the one the warriors are looking for. Surprise.]
It didn't take very long for Jean to realize how shitty the Military Police actually was. In a way it was everything he had longed for. Just an easy pass to live in the interior with a handful of his friends. They got assigned the most boring jobs - things they have to actually do something with - while the higher ups just played poker all day.
At least there were no titans in sight, so most of the problems came from shitty older officers and civilians annoyed about paying the MP to do nothing except abuse their power. One of their new 'friends', Marlowe, kept planning on how to make the Military Police better when he got higher up, trying to rally them to join him.
Jean didn't share his ambitions - but he also was less happy about the "relaxed" life than he had thought he would be. Hitch may hav enjoyed not doing anything, but Jean felt restless. Not restless enough to wish for something big and major to happen, but restless enough to wish something would change.
And then the titans attack Wall Sina. How they got there and past Wall Maria undetected wasn't clear and no one had time to find out. Instead they cursed the Survey Corps for being on one of their expeditions in a moment of crisis like this and ordered the fresh cadets to "get to work".
Multiple of them died. Even Jean was thought to be dead in the middle of the chaos. It's true that he had been caught by a titan (while protecting some civilians) that had chewed on his legs, but...
The sun is assaulting his eyes as he wakes up, unsure about where and when he was. He finds it hard to focus on anything, not even knowing who was nearby, even if he could tell there was people. When did he lay down on the ground anyway? What was he doing before this?
"Nnghh..." is all he manages to say.
The tragic omega AU; tw/cw: death and grief
Jean has no regrets that he bonded. Not even now as he was watching the funeral fire, where Marco's lifeless body was being burned.
This wasn't how it was supposed to go. This was supposed to be the day their dreams came true.
Eyes around him pity him. He doesn't care. Instead he keeps his eyes on the fire. The broken bond feels as a stabbing pain in his chest. It was dangerous for an omega if a bond was suddenly broken, for many reasons. It was usually the number one cause of omega deaths, since most of them refused to rebond. Jean and Marco never talked about something as morbid as that. They had faith.
There were still no regrets.
Jean's desperate and sad scent was mixing with the scent of smoke. People were leaving. He wouldn't. He just wanted to stand there just in case there was a miracle. Just in case Marco was secretly a fucking Phoenix.
Post-Rumbling life
The kitchen was the most organize and Jean found himself enjoying cooking. Especially for others, he notes. Which is what he was doing now. He had someone coming over for dinner - something he had never really thought was possible. Something he never thought he'd enjoy so much as a thought when he was younger.
Now even the most mundane things felt like heaven.
The potatoes were nicely roasting, the sauce was almost done. All that was left was cutting the vegetables for the sides, but he would leave those for later as he walks over to the door after it was knocked onto to.
Wearing his appron he opens the door. His hair was on a neat ponytail as he greets his guest. "Come in."
Jaegerists AU, but Jean is in it early on
It was probably a surprise to everyone that Jean agreed to it. Even he doubted the words coming out of his mouth at first, shocked at not even arguing about it first. Even Floch was staring at him like he had gone insane. Well, thank yourself, Floch. The company you have affects you.
While Floch took a more vocal role in the 'Jaegerists', Jean opted to staying close to their friends to watch over them, and help Eren do things without their knowing. Thanks to him, even Sasha was only injured and put in a coma and not dead (still making Nicolo mad enough to hurt Falco who was protecting Gabi). It seems listening to Eren tell him to pay attention to every detail was worth it.
When Floch marched in to arrest everyone, it was time for Jean to stop pretending. Instead of being tied up, he was left alone. Connie raged, Hange sounded more disappointed than they ever had been. Jean just looked away, not bothering to answer any of the questions or accusations.
Connie called him a coward for not answering. Maybe he was. But there wasn't enough time for explanations and Eren wouldn't want him to explain.
Jean stayed behind, waiting for Eren to be finished with his business. In a way they were doing the same thing. Pushing their friends away. Jean might have a chance to patch things later, unless something tragic happened. Who even knew. It wasn't in Eren's plans, but nothing was ever set it stone.
For now, Jean decided to light up a cigarette. When did he start smoking? He doesn't even remember. But it had become a habit.

Gear broke, stuck on Armored after Eren rescue
Never did he imagine he's get stuck hijacking a ride on the Armored's shoulder since his gear took a hit and malfunctioned. Everyone else had managed to get away with Eren, but he had to fight off titans with the traitors. Ymir had chosen Historia, so it was just the Armored and the two humans fighting for their lifes.
Somehow they all had survived, but Jean was still stuck and now he was very far from Wall Maria. Even if his gear would miraculously start working it would be impossible for him to go back. Especially without a horse, but even with one it would probably be too difficult. The titans were still wild due to whatever Eren did.
All he knew was that he didn't want to stay near Reiner and Bertholdt. Maybe he could find one of the rooms used by the Garrison and lock himself in to think of what possibilities he had (he wasn't completely ready to throw the towel in despite the situation looking bleak). Reiner had to at least be too tired after being in his titan for so long and Bertholdt had been fighting a lot. Sure, Jean was tired, too, but he was also the second most stubborn person in the 104th (Eren took the first prize).
So he took his chance to bolt the moment he could.
